This course covers both aspects required of manual handling training to make a difference:

  1. How to safely warm up, then lift, carry and lower objects, plus use mechanical aids
  2. How to analyse manual handling work tasks for risks and what you can do to reduce the risks using the workplace factors.

For certain team members, you might want to turn off the second part. This might be because you only need certain people to do it because they will be managing change, or you'll be running separate in-person workshops.

The course comes with a worksheet for task analysis. There are a large number of suggestions in the course for interventions and improvements.

Here's how to start:

I manage my company's training

These are the steps you should take to set your team up with their manual handling course. Click on the links for more detail (they'll open in a new window)

  1. Enter your name and company name in Profile
  2. If you have more than one location, or you want to divide your team members into groups (e.g. a group that does all the modules vs a group that does only the manual handling modules), set up one or more Groups
  3. Adjust the module availability by group.
  4. If you want another person to manage one or more Groups, invite Managers
  5. If you want your Managers to be able to add/delete team members, rather than just view reports, enable this in Account
  6. Invite or add your team member(s) - either via email or, if they don't have an email, adding them using a username or bulk uploading them
  7. Follow up with them and make sure they are given clear goals about when the course must be finished
  8. You will receive an email when they have finished all the assigned modules. You can always view their progress by building a report in the reports section, or downloading a report to Excel
  9. You can download a certificate of achievement for each team member once they have completed the theory 100%.
